About the Youth Red Cross Society, Himachal Pradesh National Law University, Shimla:

The Youth Red Cross Society at Himachal Pradesh National Law University, Shimla, was established in April 2025 as a voluntary, student-driven platform dedicated to fostering a spirit of service, compassion, and social responsibility. Aligned with the fundamental principles of the Indian Red Cross Society and the global Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, the Society aims to inspire young individuals to contribute meaningfully to humanitarian causes.

It seeks to empower students through awareness-building, capacity development, and community outreach activities focused on health, disaster response, and social welfare. By cultivating leadership and civic engagement, the Youth Red Cross Society aspires to nurture responsible citizens who are sensitive to the needs of society.

Goals and Objectives

• Health Promotion: To organize health awareness drives, wellness campaigns, and preventive education on issues such as hygiene, mental health, nutrition, and communicable diseases.
• Voluntary Blood Donation: To encourage regular and safe blood donation through well-coordinated blood donation camps and awareness initiatives.
• First Aid & Emergency Response Training: To equip students with essential life-saving skills through certified first aid, CPR, and disaster preparedness training.
• Disaster Risk Reduction: To raise awareness about disaster risk management and prepare youth volunteers to respond effectively during emergencies.
• Community Service and Outreach: To engage in social welfare activities, including visits to orphanages, old-age homes, and underprivileged communities.
• Fostering Leadership and Humanitarian Values: To develop leadership qualities and instil values of empathy, unity, and non-discrimination among students in line with the seven fundamental principles of the Red Cross Movement: Humanity, Impartiality, Neutrality, Independence, Voluntary Service, Unity, and Universality.
