PUBLICATION ETHICS AND EDITORIAL INTEGRITY POLICY

Fair Play

Editors shall evaluate manuscripts solely based on their intellectual content and academic

merit, without regard to the race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin,

citizenship, political philosophy, disability, or other personal characteristics of the authors.

Confidentiality

The Editor and members of the Editorial Board shall not disclose any information concerning

a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, potential

reviewers, editorial advisers, and the publisher, as appropriate.

Manuscript Assessment

All manuscripts shall be subject to peer review and shall be expected to meet the standards of

academic excellence prescribed by the Journal.

Submissions considered suitable for publication shall be sent for peer review. The identity of

reviewers shall remain confidential in accordance with the peer-review process followed by

the Journal.

Standards of Objectivity

Reviews shall be conducted objectively and fairly. Personal criticism of authors shall be

inappropriate. Reviewers shall express their views clearly and provide appropriate reasons and

academic justification for their recommendations.

Plagiarism and Acknowledgement of Sources

Authors shall not use the words, ideas, figures, data, or research findings of others without

proper acknowledgement and attribution. All sources relied upon in the manuscript shall be

appropriately cited. Any use of previously published material shall be properly attributed or

quoted, wherever applicable. Manuscripts found to contain plagiarism may be rejected.

Duplicate Submission and Redundant Publication

The HPNLU Journal of Disability Studies shall consider only original manuscripts that have

not been previously published. Duplicate or redundant publication of substantially similar

manuscripts may result in rejection or retraction of the manuscript and such other appropriate

action as may be determined by the Journal.

Citation Manipulation

Authors shall not include citations for the primary purpose of artificially increasing citations to

themselves, another author, a particular publication, or the Journal. Manuscripts found to

contain inappropriate citation manipulation may be rejected, and appropriate action may be

taken against the author(s).

Authorship of the Paper

Authorship shall be limited to persons who have made a significant contribution to the

conception, design, execution, research, analysis, or interpretation of the work. All persons who

have made significant contributions shall be appropriately identified as authors or co-authors.

Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest

All authors shall disclose any financial or other substantive conflict of interest that may

influence or may reasonably be perceived to influence the results or interpretation of their

manuscript. All sources of financial support for the research shall also be disclosed.

Where a manuscript is authored or co-authored by a member of the Editorial Board, the

concerned member shall not participate in the review or editorial decision-making process, and

another Editorial Board member shall handle the manuscript.

Sanctions

Where the Editors become aware of a breach of the Publication Ethics and Publication

Malpractice Statement, appropriate action may be taken, including:

 rejection of the manuscript and any other manuscript submitted by the author(s);

 prohibition on submission to the Journal for a specified period;

 prohibition from acting as an editor or reviewer for the Journal; and

Any additional action or sanction concerning violations of publication ethics shall be

determined by the Editorial Board of the Journal, as appropriate.
