About the Centre: The past decades featured with economic liberalization and some hesitant scales of globalization resulted into excessive emphasis up on economic development. The emphasis on economic development had to be justified with industrial expansion and growth, which compels the policy makers to pounder upon this pertinent issue of sustainable and ethical model of industrial expansion and growth. In view of the above said the proposed Centre for Business Law and Economics at the Himachal Pradesh National Law University, Shimla fosters research and study on a variety of topics at the intersections among law, business, and economics. The proposed Centre is an initiative of HPNLU aimed at institutionalizing and channelizing researches on corporate and business-related aspects that take place nationally as well as globally. The Centre looks to give a necessary impetus by inculcating an outlook amongst those future corporate professionals to question the various aspects of business and its interplay with the society. The Centre’s focus of study involves the wide ranging contemporaneous corporate law issues: which includes as major thrust area financial markets and intermediaries; the legal framework of Corporate Law, like, Company Law, Taxation, Mergers and Acquisitions, Securities Law etc. The Centre undertakes activities including discussions and expert talks that inculcate and facilitate the students to have a thorough understanding of the corporate structure, its market, its regulatory framework etc. The students look to undertake research, engage in debates and sensitize others about the same by organizing various programmes. Vision: The vision of the Centre is to make Himachal Pradesh National Law University, Shimla a centre for discussion, debate and research in Business Law and Economics. Aims & Objectives: The purpose of the Centre is to act as a forum for the exchange of information, views and expertise relating to corporate and commercial law through lectures, seminars and publications. As such the Centre aims to bridge the gap between academic lawyers, practitioners in law and accountancy and those working in finance and industry. Centre intends to achieve the following objectives: 1. Research: to carry out research on policy, institutional, legal and regulatory issues; 2. Training: to provide training to executives of companies and academicians; 3. Courses: to develop and conduct Online/offline/contact Courses for companies/Executive Education Programmes; 4. Journals: To publish journals for research papers written by students, academicians and professionals; 5. Collaborations: to collaborate with other organizations/institutions/universities in academic and research matters; 6. Conferences/ Panel discussions: to conduct panel discussions, roundtables, seminars and conferences; 7. Special Sessions for students: to invite members of regulatory authorities, government officials, executives of companies, professionals and academicians for conducting special sessions for students. 8.
