Description & Objectives:

“Arise, awake, and stop not till the goal is reached” is the motto of the Centre for Child and Woman Studies, a specialized Centre, established by Himachal Pradesh National Law University, Shimla, for conducting socio-legal research in the field of rights of women and children. The Centre is created to assist the governments in making better laws and policies pertaining to women and children rights. The Centre aims to serve as a research and training centre in the field of development of women and children. It further aims to initiate and promote regional, national as well as international collaboration, fund-raising for women and children cause. The centre intends to achieve the following objectives:

  • To inculcate awareness and sensitivity about the various women and children related issues among the various stakeholders;
  • To impart comprehensive knowledge in women and children law and policy;
  • To develop understanding on key women and children issues relating to national and international importance;
  • To develop practical skills to facilitate effective implementation of women and children rights;
  • To upgrade competencies by instilling consciousness in legal and other professionals about issues related to woman and child;
  • To conduct various activities to strengthen and empower women and children across the nation.
