About HPNLU The Himachal Pradesh National Law University (HPNLU) Shimla, was established by the State Government in the year 2016, by an Act of the Legislature (Act 16 of 2016). The University started functioning from October5, 2016. The University inducts students through Common Law Admission Test(CLAT) for its Under-graduate (UG) programme, which includes B.A.LL.B. and B.B.A.LL.B.-Hons. (Five-Year Integrated Course) and the Post-graduate (PG)programme for one-year LL.M. The PG programme provides four specializations viz, Constitutional Law, Criminal Law & Forensic Studies, Business Law and Intellectual Property Rights. The University also offers Doctor of Philosophy(Ph.D.) and Post-Doctorate Programmes (LL.D.) in Law. About the Law and Economics Trust The first three International Conferences on Law and Economics (ICLE), 2015, 2016 and 2017 were held under the consortium of GNLU-Gandhinagar, IIT Kanpur and IIM Ahmedabad respectively. The consortium has been transformed into the Indian Association of Law and Economics (IALE) at the2nd conference, IIT Kanpur. Under the Indian Association of Law and Economics(IALE), 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th annual conferences were held at GIPE-Pune, IIM Bangalore, NLIU-Bhopal, TNNLU-Tiruchirappalli and NLU-Delhi, and BBAU- Lucknow, respectively. The Law and Economics Trust was constituted at the9th conference, BBAU, Lucknow. The 10th and 12th conferences were held at IIT Kharagpur and Centre for Development Studies, Trivandrum, in association with the Law and Economics Trust respectively. The Vision and the Mission of the Law and Economics Trust are as follows: • Law and Economics methods that helps to evaluate and design incentive structured institutions (Ex-ante and Ex-post) to generate cooperative surplus and reduce transaction costs for conservation of resources that promotes value of life; • Knowledge generation (basic and applied) and dissemination of Techno-Economic-Legal Learning (TELL) within the ambit of Law and Economics methods that promotes compliance of the institutions to transform Money Making Mind (MMM) into Wealth, Wellness and Wiseness (WWW); and, • Promote research and dialogue on economic analysis of rules, law and governance in India. The 12th International Conference on Law and Economics (ICLE-2026) will be held at the Himachal Pradesh National Law University during 24-25, October, 2026.
